Prior to Christmas the Industry Partnerships team invited staff to donate grocery items to community support organisations Vision West and Massey Matters, at what can be a difficult time for struggling families.

“Every year, thousands of families are struggling to make ends meet and are forced to seek assistance. Vision West and Massey Matters work closely with families in need and were accepting donations to distribute to families in the lead-up to Christmas, so we saw an opportunity to help them out” said Heather Stonyer, Director of Industry Partnerships.

The response from staff was huge, with nine large boxes of food, household items and toiletries being collected.

The Industry Partnerships team delivered the boxes to Vision West and Massey Matters the week before Christmas, who were blown away by Unitec’s effort to make Christmas a bit more comfortable for families in need.

“Thanks to everyone who donated to our collection” said Heather.

“We are totally in awe of your generosity of spirit and totally humbled by how our West Auckland community received your gifts to them. There are many ways to show support to our West Auckland Community and we hope that this gesture is just the beginning.”
