Unitec lecturer hard at work on the vaccination frontline

Dr Samantha Heath

Dr Samantha Heath, Senior Lecturer and Research Leader, School of Healthcare and Social Practice has been hard at work during Auckland’s lockdown giving Covid-19 vaccinations at the Life Pharmacy Centre in Papakura.

She says a big part of the work is talking through the process with people so they understand the benefits of the vaccine.

“There’s a lot of people who have misinformation, so I always ask if they have any questions for me. Often they need clarification on the pedigree of the vaccine or how it works. This means that the vaccine doesn’t stopping you getting Covid, rather it limits the potential for you getting the very serious consequences of this viral infection. I would encourage everyone to get the information and answers they need from reliable sources.

It’s lovely for me to be able to give something to my community in Papakura and the team at Life Pharmacy have been so welcoming. I have really enjoyed the experience so far.”
