Covid-19 RED updates

All of New Zealand moved to the Covid-19 Protection Framework Red (CPF) Level from 11:59pm  Sunday 23 January. As a result, to allow time to ensure we have the correct protocols in place, all Unitec campuses will be closed Monday and Tuesday as we transition to CPF RedWe will reopen on Wednesday 25 January.

  • Please continue to work from home for the next two days. Online teaching can continue. On campus teaching on Monday and Tuesday is by exception only. Please contact your Head of School and Academic Programme Manager to request approval.
  • Please ensure you have advised your students if you are currently, or due, to deliver teaching this week.
  • Please ensure you have advised any contractors under your leadership.
  • Please continue to check your email  for updates.

Working under CFP Red Level

Unitec whānau will now have to follow the Covid Protection Framework Red Level protocols. This means:

  • If you can work from home, please continue to do so.
  • Once teaching and learning resumes on-campus, it will be a blend of online and face to face, with social distancing and face covering measures in place.
  • Capacity is based on 1-metre spacing.

Tertiary Education Guidelines at Red

Face Coverings

Everyone who is on campus must wear a face covering in both indoor and outdoor spaces.

Contact Tracing

The NZ Covid-19 Tracer app or manual sign in is mandatory on campus.

My Vaccine Passes must be uploaded

If you need to go on campus, please ensure you have uploaded your My Vaccine Pass or proof of medical exemption.

Creating a plan for Omicron

It’s important that you prepare for contracting Omicron or needing to self-isolate. The Ministry of Health Covid-19 website has extensive information for creating a plan.

Be prepared for Covid-19

The Government’s advice is that although Omicron is more infectious, but not as severe as Delta, for the most part people will be well enough to stay at home, with support in place for severe cases. Unitec supports the public health response to Covid-19, which includes getting vaccinated and boosted if you are now eligible.

Testing

If you have symptoms or have been to a location of interest, please get tested. If you have no symptoms or haven’t been at a Location Of Interest, the MOH advice is not to get tested in order to free up resources for those who need to. To get tested, you can visit a community testing centre or your GP.

Te Puna Waiora are carrying out Covid-19 testing for staff and students by appointment only. To ensure others’ safety, testing is a drive through process, so do not come onto campus until you have booked by calling 0800 10 85 10 and received instructions from healthcare staff.

Covid-19 symptoms

If you feel unwell, or you are experiencing any symptoms of Covid-19, or live in a household with someone who is, please do not come to campus. Instead, call your GP or Healthline on 0800 358 5453 for further advice.

Please refer to the Nest Covid-19 page for guidance on testing and awaiting confirmation of results or showing symptoms

If you are feeling unsure or anxious about anything in this email, please reach out to your manager, or access the support available to you.
