Academic Advisors Team

TPA Advisors profiles

Our multi-talented Academic Advisors are available to work alongside academic staff in a variety of ways such as learning design and lesson planning, programme design, assessment, how to rethink learning for flexible/blended modes, how to use group work, and much more. We play a key role in supporting Kaiako/teachers in building their competencies through the Teaching Capability Development (TCD) programme. This may be in the form of individual guidance, advice to Academic Programme Managers (APMs) on School or programme professional development, workshops or advice on submitting evidence for a digital credential (badge). Each School as a Liaison Adviser.

Many of the TPA team have the knowledge and skills to provide not only general advice and support, but also expertise in areas of digital learning. So we are not necessarily “academic” or “digital”! Our team focuses on assisting teachers develop competency in four areas:

  • Design: Programme design, course design and learning design and planning, especially taking account of blended modes.
  • Facilitation: Using eLearning
  • Assessment: Formative, summative, self and peer.
  • Evaluation: Effectiveness of design, facilitation and assessment.

The team is also trained in administering Small Group Instructional Diagnosis sessions as an alternative way to obtain feedback/evaluation from learners.

We are available to work with you on a one to one basis, or in small groups. If you would like to discuss how one of our advisors could work with you or your team, message or call Joce Williams (Te Puna Ako Manager) in Teams or email jwilliams@unitec.ac.nz
