Why we do itInstitute Graduate surveys are conducted to collect information about the value of the study to graduates, and the percentages of graduates in employment, study or a combination (GESC), and the relevance of the programme they completed their main work. These are key performance indicators for programme outcomes and are audited and reported on each year in the publicly available Annual Report. What it involvesThe survey occurs once a year in mid-April. Graduates answer eleven questions via an online survey which is emailed to their last known email address. ResultsResults of surveys conducted from 2016 to 2020 graduates are displayed in Power BI. Results of surveys conducted since 2021 are displayed in the 2021-2022 Graduate Surveys Dashboard on Power BI. Results of surveys conducted from 2016 to 2020 are also available. Other graduate and next-user evidence collectionCollecting GPO evidence from graduates, next-users (employers, next-level teachers, community, iwi and hāpori) is useful to inform programme evaluation and planning processes and reports, degree monitoring, 5-year programme review, accreditation review and assuring consistency. School staff are responsible for the collection of GPO evidence. GPO evidence may be collected by online surveys, paper-based surveys, telephone surveys, at small group gatherings, at committee meetings or as part of routine work-based interaction with graduates and their work. One of the key areas to address as part of the evidence collection is the rationalisation and in some cases simplification or the Graduate Profile Outcome (GPO) statements from the approved programme document. Before collecting GPO evidence the GPO statements need to be reviewed and, if necessary, modified so that they are easy to understand for a respondent and are clearly stating one skill per statement. The Programme Managers in consultation with key kaimahi should re-draft the GPO statements. If support is required with this task then please contact Te Korowai Kahurangi kaimahi through tkkinsights@unitec.co.nz.Templates are provided to support the development of evidence collection: |
