Ākonga Complaints & Appeals
Ākonga can make a complaint if they have tried to resolve their concern informally but are not satisfied with the outcome. If the ākonga is not satisfied with the outcome of a complaint, they may formally appeal the decision if specific grounds for appeal can be met.
Unitec endeavours to ensure that ākonga complaints are resolved fairly and promptly. Before making a complaint, ākonga should first seek to resolve the concern informally. They can do this by discussing the issue with their Lecturer, Programme Co-ordinator, Academic Programme Manager, Head of School or a Student Support Advisor. ComplaintsThe procedure for making a complaint is outlined and governed by the Te Pukenga Ākonga Complaints & Concerns Policy. The Resolutions team in Te Korowai Kahurangi work with the Student Success team at Unitec to ensure complaints are managed according to the above procedure. AppealsĀkonga may appeal decisions if the grounds for appeal are reached. The Resolutions team in Te Korowai Kahurangi manage appeals at Unitec, governed by Te Pukenga Ākonga Appeals Policy Ākonga have the right to further appeal the Unitec Appeal Panel’s decision to Te Ohu Whakahaere Appeals, a subcommittee of Te Pūkenga Academic Board.
