Evaluation, Monitoring and Review

Effective evaluation is integral to ensuring what we deliver is as good as it can be, and aligned to our stakeholder needs. Whether it’s internal Course Evaluation and Planning (CEP), Programme Evaluation and Planning (PEP), Degree Monitoring or a Consistency Review, these can all be used to inform Programme Reviews.

Āta-kōrero is the process we promote because careful deliberation and reflective conversation is integral to evaluation. Naku te rourou nau te rourou ka ora ai te iwi; it’s in combining wisdom and resources that we will move ahead.

NZQA Evaluative Quality Assurance Framework

NZQA provides us with guidance on their Evaluative Quality Assurance Framework which employs many different quality assurance activities to reflect the quality of education and education organisations.

The NZQA quality assurance framework integrates quality assurance of entry processes (accreditation and approval), with the ongoing self-assessment activities an education organisation undertakes to assure itself of the quality of graduate outcomes.

The framework uses an evaluative approach and is underpinned by the following principles:

  • needs based
  • focused on outcomes
  • flexibility
  • quality as a dynamic concept that involves ongoing improvement
  • trust and accountability

Āta-kōrero is the process we promote to achieve this because careful deliberation and reflective conversation is integral to evaluation.
