More than 40 people attended a welcoming pōwhiri for new kaimahi at Te Noho Kotahitanga Marae last week. In his welcome to the new kaimahi, operational lead Martin Carroll spoke about the importance of pōwhiri for Unitec whānau.
“These pōwhiri are always a highlight for us, and although some of the kaimahi have been with us for a while, it’s wonderful to welcome colleagues from Unitec, MIT and Te Pūkenga national and Rohe 1 roles. I think of pōwhiri is a rite of passage – it’s about blending people together, coming in as manuhiri and becoming whānau.”
Welcome to our new (and not so new) kaimahi!
