Unitec and our Architecture students shine at GLOW

Over the weekend our second year Architecture student’s work shone at GLOW.  They teamed up again with energy provider Vector to bring a stunning display of interactive light installations to Devonport’s Windsor Reserve.

With the use of a ‘Vehicle to Home’ (V2H) system, power was exported from two Nissan Leaf G2 electric cars to provide all the power needed to run the student light installations.

There was a great turnout to the three days of GLOW and the stunning installations caught national media’s attention, with three different pieces running on TVNZ’s 1 News Tonight on Friday, which included an interview with Architecture Lecturer David Chaplin and a montage of our students’ installations.

You can watch the interview and view the montage by logging in to TVNZ OnDemand and going to 1 News Tonight on Friday 18 October (this is only available to view until Thursday 24 October), then scroll to:

This is the fifth year that our Architecture students have taken part in the GLOW@Artweek festival, which is hosted by the Devonport Business Association in conjunction with Artweek Auckland.

More pics are available here and feature our students setting up through to the completed and lit installations.
