Te Puna Waiora – Counselling and Mental Health
The Counselling and Mental Health team provide short-term counselling support for students for any issues that are impacting their studies or wellbeing (e.g. life challenges, depression, grief and loss, cultural or identity issues, abuse and trauma, sexuality and sexual orientation, drugs and alcohol, family or relationship issues, decision making and goal setting).
Counsellor
Provides a safe, supportive space to explore any concerns affecting your wellbeing and studies (relationship, family, stress, anxiety, depression, grief and loss, transitions, traumatic events) and find ways to move forward with how you want to be living your life.
Counsellor Maori
Provides both clinical and cultural support and space in unpacking some of the challenges that may be impacting your wellbeing and success. Counsellor Maori works collaboratively with Maia Maori centre as well as wider support and academic teams. Our Counsellor Maori provides a safe space to explore cultural identity applying an indigenous holistic approach to counselling practice in tertiary.
Mental Health Advisor
Mental health advisors work with students with complex or long-standing mental health conditions, disability or neurodiversity to assess impacts on their studies and plan strategies to support their wellbeing in their studies. They work in collaboration with Community Mental Health services and health professionals as well as academic teams to support students’ success. The team has Mental Health Advisors who provide confidential support for students who have experience of mental health issues.

Multifaith Chaplaincy Services
Provides Staff and Students with an inclusive and holistic approach to spirituality. Can also provide links with faith or religious communities, discussion and spiritual support.
