Student NPS remains historically high for Returning students

Net Promoter Score (NPS) slightly increased for Returning, International and Pacific Students in Semester 2, 2024.

While there were decreases in score on the previous semester for new students and other priority learner groups monitored.

Student NPS is Unitec’s key indicator of student engagement and satisfaction.

“We survey learners each semester. It allows us to establish trends on whether they would recommend Unitec to their friends or relations. It was great to see promotion among Returning students NPS remains historically high,” says Region 1 Executive Director Peseta Sam Lotu-Iiga.

“Through the survey we can also gain insights into what our learners say would improve their experience with us,” he says.

Community Studies and Trades & Services were the schools which recorded the highest scores in the most recent survey.

Learners expressed strong positivity about the atmosphere and culture along with the learning and development. Supportive staff and staff friendliness remained a key strength as one of our points of difference. This is evidenced at both Mt Albert and Waitākere Campuses.

Comments included:

The environment in Unitec is very good with the feel of involvement in community.

Much support from the Unitec team and I highly recommend others to study here.

The Unitec community is very homely and welcoming.

The teaching staff at Unitec go out of their way to provide the help that is needed to succeed.

Staff have always been very supportive and helped me through everything.

Detractors focused on courses and content, management and price perceptions and suggestions for improvements related to toilet facilities, student kitchens, classroom and parking. These form improvement opportunities for 2025.

“We have longitudinal survey evidence over many years of running Student NPS that confirms what is critical from our students’ perspectives across both campuses. From the Semester 2, 2024 survey feedback, student voices have been clear in asking us to focus on improving our facilities, parking, course content structure and relevance to industry. These are the top 3 identified which helps all of us to have a laser focus on how we can do better and find continuous improvements.” commented Director Student Success, Annette Pitovao.
