STEPtember is back. Join the movement!

STEPtember is back, kicking off on Tuesday 3 September!

Join us to uphold a proud Unitec tradition and sign up for STEPtember now.

The challenge is to take at least 10,000 steps a day for 27 days. Activities such as swimming, biking, bootcamp and pilates all contribute to your daily 10,000 step count. It’s a team challenge (teams of four) so you can stay motivated and support each other to keep increasing your step tally. STEPtember is also an opportunity to raise funds to support Kiwis living with cerebral palsy.

The Wellness team will once again cover your registration fee, when you use our unique Unitec code: Unitec2019.

Step up and sign up right now! using the organisation name and payment code: Unitec2019. Think of a catchy name for your team and start that friendly, healthy, competitive banter with the teams around you.

The Unitec team with the most steps wins morning tea!

Last year’s winning team from UPC: Blair Sorensen, Debbie Loots, Renee Peeni and Anaru Parangi

All you have to do is:

  • Organise a team of four colleagues and nominate one person as your team captain
  • The team captain registers online (using the ’organisation name’ and ‘team payment code’:  Unitec2019 so that all team members’ registration costs are waived).
  • Each team member will receive an email invitation which they click on to complete their registration
  • Ask your family and friends to sponsor you, or simply make a donation yourself
  • You’ll each receive a pedometer to track your steps, and access to the website and app to record your steps
  • Start the challenge! Take 10,000 ‘steps’ or more per day (through walking or any other physical activity). Find ways to increase your physical activity, it could be through walking meetings, parking further away, going for a team or family bike ride, bootcamp, pilates…the opportunities are endless!

Lots of us here at Unitec will be taking part (in 2018 we had 33 teams involved!), so there’ll be no shortage of people to keep you motivated.

For more information, head to the STEPtember website. They have some great ideas on how to increase your steps and also different methods of raising funds. As an organisation we have been involved for the last seven years and it would be fabulous if we could make another great contribution to this charity. Children and adults living with cerebral palsy are counting on us – and every one of us who takes part means more money raised.
