Winter illness: Staying home when sick and masking up indoors

Recent forecasts from the DHBs indicate that we will see a small wave of new Covid infections, flu bugs and colds during July and August.

Please stay home if unwell

Remember there are special leave provisions if you are unwell or isolating due to Covid-19.

Please stay at home if you don’t feel well, to protect our ākonga and staff. Our flexible working policy allows teams to work from home when needed and we’re all very used to a hybrid working arrangement after the disruption of the past two years (acknowledging flexible working is harder for our teaching staff who need to be on campus for class).

Our Covid-19 page on Te Aka contains everything you need to know about our Unitec response.

Masks help to stop the spread of illness

  • Under our updated Covid-19 policy, face masks are required in indoor teaching spaces (unless the teacher can stand at a distance from students) and in public indoor spaces like Te Puna.
  • Mask-wearing is also strongly recommended elsewhere inside, such as our office spaces and meeting rooms.
  • Masks help to stop the spread of bugs, so please remind those around you to wear them when required.
