Unitec to celebrate Pink Shirt Day

Pink Shirt Day will be celebrated across both Unitec campuses on Friday, 16 May.

Kaimahi and ākonga are invited to the Events Kitchen in Te Puna, in Mt Albert and the Student Lounge in Waitakere from 11:00am-2:00pm.

The events planned on Friday will be facilitated by the Unitec Student Council and aim to raise awareness about the importance of creating a safe and supportive environment for all students, while promoting mental well-being and inclusivity.

Event Details:

1. Free Food and Goodie Bags: We will provide donuts, lamingtons, and beverages for attendees, along with goodie bags containing Pink Shirt Day stickers.

2. Activity Booths for each campus:
• Kindness Stones: Students can paint positive messages on stones, promoting kindness and encouragement.
• Bracelet Making: A creative activity where students can make their bracelets as a reminder of the event’s message.
• Pink Shirt Day Mirror Photo Booth: An opportunity for students to take photos, encouraging them to share their support on social media, further promoting the event’s message.

3. Student Interviews: We plan to interview attendees about what Pink Shirt Day means to them, with the intention of sharing these clips on our social media platforms to raise further awareness.

We believe these activities will create a positive impact, offering students a meaningful way to reflect on their mental health and the importance of kindness.
