The Unitec Blood Drive is an opportunity for our ākonga and kaimahi to come together and make a difference in the community by donating blood. Every donation can save up to three lives, so your participation truly matters.
Date: Tuesday, 10 September
Time: 10am t0 3pm
Location: B510 – 1035, Unitec Waitākere campus
The event is organized in collaboration with NZ Blood, which will manage the donation process.

- With each donation YOU can save up to 3 lives.
- Less than 4% of us currently roll up our sleeves and donate.
- 30,000 patients are treated with blood or blood products in New Zealand each year.
- NZ Blood Service is the SOLE provider of blood products to hospitals in New Zealand.
Mad Cow Disease ban lifted:
As of Thursday 29 February 2024, the ‘mad cow’ (vCJD disease) blood donation criteria restriction in New Zealand has been lifted. This affected people who lived in the United Kingdom for more than six months during the 1980s.
You can now book an appointment to donate blood or plasma and start your lifesaving journey.
You will still need to check your eligibility to donate because there may be other factors that mean you can’t give blood right now. Take the basic eligibility quiz here:

Activities:
Blood Donation: Qualified medical staff will be on-site to collect blood donations from willing participants. Donors will undergo a brief medical screening before the donation process.
Refreshments: Enjoy complimentary snacks and beverages after donating blood to replenish your energy.
