Rainbow Ākonga Survey

An important research collaboration is underway across Aotearoa exploring how safe and inclusive all Te Pūkenga campuses, including Unitec, are for rainbow ākonga.

The research aims to highlight what is working well and any areas where improvement may be needed.

Unitec ākonga who identify as ‘rainbow’ including rainbow genders and sexualities are encouraged to complete this short survey online; and ākonga who identify as heterosexual and cisgendered, and all kaimahi, can complete this survey.

All responses are anonymous, and each survey should take approximately 10-15 minutes to complete. Recommendations from the research will help to inform important change across campuses nationwide.

This research is being led by Whitireia and WelTec Senior Research Advisor, Dr Lee Smith, and supported by Te Pūkenga staff across the motu, including Professor Helen Gremillion at Unitec (Social Practice and the Research & Enterprise Office).  The project has obtained ethics approval from the Whitireia and WelTec Research and Ethics Committee (RP350-2022) with permission to disseminate across Business Divisions of Te Pūkenga, including at Unitec.
