MIT Te Pūkenga and Unitec Te Pūkenga warmly welcome Pacific staff from Te Pūkenga and their research partners to register and to submit abstract(s) to present research and research informed practice at this Pacific symposium. There will be no charge for this event which is open to Pacific Te Pūkenga staff, staff undertaking Pacific research and community/industry partners. Options for a full presentation or short presentation at a talanoa are available, as well as an option to publish quality assured paper in Unitec ePress which will result in a Quality Assured output.
This symposium aims to promote Pacific networks/whanaungatanga; ensure continuity and development of Pacific staff capability in research; share Pacific research interests/ opportunities/projects; support research informed practice and research led practice; promote Pacific research output capability through publication opportunities; demystify research for Pacific people in vocational education; ensure Pacific staff are engaged in research and can see themselves as researchers; promote levels of research categories, e.g. New and emerging early career research; unpack and support engagement with PBRF; connect external Pacific agencies with Pacific staff; link event to Te Pūkenga Pacific strategy being presented to Te Pūkenga Council.
Abstract submission
- All presenters must submit an abstract (see guidelines)
- The symposium encourages participation and strongly encourages community/industry
- Abstracts will be checked for eligibility – Pacific author(s) oral Pacific subject must be evident
- Full presentations will be 20 minutes in duration, inclusive of 5 minutes of Q&A
- Talanoa presentations will be 5 minutes approximately
- Submit your abstracts online no later than 21 November 2023
- All presenters must register to participate in the symposium
- The acceptance of an abstract does not imply provision of costs associated with preparation of the presentation
- All presenters who have abstracts accepted will be invited to develop their research into papers for double-blind peer reviewed quality assured publication in the symposium proceedings in Unitec ePress
