Our Internal Evaluation and Review kicks off

The first of our Internal Evaluation and Review (IER) meetings got off to a start on Monday with a virtual mihi whakatau with our external panel members Judith Brown, Shane Edwards and Debra Robertson-Welsh.

The IER meetings, which are conducted online, are modelled on the actual External Evaluation and Review (EER) process and are designed to assess our readiness for the EER visit later in the year. We’re conducting an IER for all the EER focus areas, as well as the ELT and Academic Board.

The series of meetings will be held over the next two weeks, and will involve a self-assessment exercise using the same process that the NZQA will use for EER.  This is based on a series of panel interviews with management, staff, students and other key stakeholders, where they will ask questions based on a range of performance and self-review documentation.

The external panel will send us their feedback on each of the focus areas once the meetings are over, and we’ll then have a chance to incorporate their feedback into any areas of improvement we’re working on for the EER.

The EER will be held from 19-30 October.  Unitec was last reviewed in 2018 and was given a Category 3 rating.

For more information on the process around EER, as well as Simon Nash’s May newsletter, visit the EER page on the Nest.
