Join the club – Unitec Social Club

Did you know that Unitec has a social club for staff?

We are a diverse multi-cultural and friendly group of sound-thinking people. The club is member-led, run by staff for staff. Currently we have members that come from 14 different teams across Unitec. We run at least four functions a year where we get together to get to know each other and have fun. However this year, to make up for the events cancelled due to COVID lockdowns, we planned monthly events!

The events usually cover the categories of culture, family friendly, games and end-of-year knees up. Some events are open to family/kids, +1s and non members. Some are not.

In May, we brought back an old-time favourite – The Taste test. Deep inside we all think we know our beers, wines, and cheeses and this was the opportunity to test different kinds of each. The test included other taste intriguing concoctions like soda drinks and peanut butter. And for the proud kiwis – for bonus points, different brands of Mermite and Pineapple Lumps were circulated around the party.

In June, we celebrated Mid-Winter off campus. Good Home pub in Kingsland provided us with delicious meal, great music, festive fun and spot prizes. Ugly Christmas sweaters most of us wore, was that sweet cherry on top.

This month, on Monday 25 July, join us for a movie night AND roast dinner, at an independent cinema in Avondale.

August will be our Karaoke month, and in September, to celebrate the spring and our amazing Unitec whanau, we will organise a hangi.

Interested? It’s easy to become a member: Just complete the form. The cost is $5 per fortnight which will be deducted from your pay and will go towards function costs.
