In memory – Kirsti Grant-Mackie

Kirsti Grant-Mackie

We would like to acknowledge the sad and sudden passing recently of our casual staff member Kirsti Grant-Mackie.

Kirsti has worked with the Healthcare team for a number of years initially as a Clinical Tutor, then as the Medical Imaging Clinical Coordinator before becoming one of our casual Clinical Tutors. She was always supporting our Medical Imaging staff and students in their studies and placements.

Kirsti’s contribution to our students has been significant in supporting them to complete their qualification and then go forth in their chosen career. Kirsti was known by staff and students alike as being passionate about her chosen profession, always striving to ensure our students were the best they could be. She was able to do this not only through her significant knowledge of medical imaging practice but also her empathetic and caring nature. She was someone who could make students believe in their abilities even when they were struggling with self-doubt. She also had a gift for providing honest and constructive feedback while knowing when a light hearted comment would help alleviate the stress of any given situation.

Kirsti was definitely “one of a kind” , the Medical Imaging team feel privileged to have known and worked with her. She will be sorely missed not only by the Unitec MI staff and graduates, but by the Medical Imaging community in New Zealand as a whole.

May she Rest In Peace.

Thank you for sharing this. I had no idea she had passed away. I remember Kirsti well from the days when I was based at the Waitākere campus as the librarian liaising with Medical Imaging students. Rest in peace, Kirsti.
