ANZAC Day – no parades but plenty of ways to commemorate this special day

ANZAC Day holds a special place in our annual calendar. It’s the day we remember and reflect on the courage and sacrifice of our past and present servicemen and servicewomen, who’ve served our country.

While there are no parades this year, there are plenty of ways you can commemorate ANZAC Day 2020.

The latest edition of Auckland Council’s Our Auckland outlines some  lockdown remembrance initiatives you can get involved in within your bubble, including ‘standing at dawn’ and laying a ‘virtual poppy’. There’s also an activity so kids (and adults!) can make an ANZAC Day poppy for their teddy bears or for window dressing.

You’ll also find a great range of activities and ideas to keep the kids busy over ANZAC weekend in our Nest post ‘Kids stuff – Lockdown activities, ideas and support.
