Spring/Summer wellness activities to get you moving, relaxing and socialising

A big thank you to everyone who took part in our STEPtember and Scavenger Hunt team challenges! A bit of competition was the spark many of us needed to get out and about and explore our beautiful campus.

Back by popular demand

As we enter into the last quarter of 2018, the Wellness team is again running a range of popular activities that give you the chance to take a little time out, socialise and take care of your physical and mental health.

Visit the waterfall, as part of the Te Auanga (Oakley) creek walk.

Here’s what’s on offer:

  • Yoga, Tai Chi and Mindfulness all help you reconnect with your breath and learn about other cultures. Yoga is run at lunchtime on Tuesdays and on Wednesday evenings.
  • Give our Sports Centre a go and get yourself into a summer mode with the $50 for five weeks gym special. With membership you also get full access to classes such as Zumba, Pilates, Boxing and Body Blast HIIT.
  • Try Futsal for a fun team game. Email the Wellness team for info on joining a team.
  • The new movement class, Kori Taketake, is a collaboration between ELT Crossfit and our Marae team. It incorporates poi, elements of Mau Rakau, functional bodyweight movements, mobility training, and breath work.
  • The classics such as Te Auanga (Oakley) creek walks, Friday drinks and at-work massages offer opportunities to be social or relax. Massages are run at both Mt Albert and Waitākere campuses.
  • In November, keep an eye out for Diabetes awareness week, a second edition of Family Fiesta day and a working bee.

Check out the calendar on the Nest and the event listings in the Pou Tukutuku weekly newsletter, and choose the activities that best suit you.

Most of these initiatives are run by staff for staff, so if you or any of your team have something they would like to share, please get in touch with the Health & Safety team, who can help you organise and promote an activity.
