The Exercise Lab

NOW SIGNING UP MEMBERS FOR 2025, Semester Two

Located in B111 is the Exercise Lab, a  teaching space for students and exercise space for staff .

This space is well equipped and has four zones – the circuit machines, cardio, weights as well as gear needed for fitness classes.

The Exercise Lab is first and foremost a teaching space, accessible to staff outside class timetabled slots. To reflect this, the cost is $5 per week, pre-paid each semester.  This will help cover the costs of cleaning, new equipment and resources over time.

Operating hours: Monday to Friday, 6.30am – 9pm.

To register, please complete this form. The form will take you through the necessary induction steps and includes these four sections.

PLEASE NOTE that all four steps need to be completed before you receive the access code and booking instructions.

Health self- assessment form.  The questions are part of standard pre-exercise assessment, approved and recommended by NZ Register of Exercise Professionals. Your answers will help The Exercise Lab team determine what we need to focus on during our 10 min induction.

  • take a screenshot of your receipt and email to safety@unitec.ac.nz

10 min induction. Once you have joined, the last step is to book 10 min induction with The Exercise Lab team. This is a necessary part of our wellbeing and safety induction process. During the meeting we will take your blood pressure, discuss your health assessment and what it means for your exercise regime.

We have three weekly time slots to choose from, please email the below sports staff directly to book your induction:

  • WEDNESDAY  1.00pm to 2.00pm with Duncan Hodgson
  • THURSDAY     11.30am to 12.30pm with John MacFarlane
