- No contract or agreement should be entered into by Unitec unless the person with the appropriate level of delegated authority (see Unitec Delegated Financial Authorities Schedule) has first approved all the educational, operational and commercial aspects of the proposed arrangement.
- Please note that contracts can be formed without anyone even signing a written agreement. For example, contractual obligations can be created orally, in a meeting or on the telephone, or by email. Therefore, care needs to be exercised to ensure you are not inadvertently committing Unitec to a contract you are not authorised to make.
- If you want us either to draft a new contract or to review a contract prepared by an outside party:
(a) complete Checklist A, answering all the questions;
(b) confirm that your Executive Director or Executive Dean has approved all the educational, operational and commercial aspects of the proposed arrangement;
(c) ensure that the financial commitment is within his or her delegated authority. If not, it will also require the approval of the Chief Executive. - If the agreement is with another educational institution regarding programmes, also complete Checklist B, answering all the questions.
- Please allow plenty of time for us to check / draft the agreement (See FAQ “How much time should I allow for this?”). Even relatively simple MOUs can take time to finalise and we may come back to you with more questions.
