Who are we

We are a dedicated team of highly skilled people with experience and training in: Enterprise Resource Planning systems, data networks, programming, operating system support, software support, information system design and information technology management.


What do we do?

The Information Technology Team provides support for and management of information technology systems across the UNITEC campuses, including:

IT Help Desk – helping staff over the phone with all their computer or IT related problems, as well as assisting students to access computing services, including network login and the applications or IT services required for the completion of their studies..

IT purchasing and leasing – purchasing for departments of all information technology hardware and software, negotiating discounts for large orders, keeping accurate records of software and hardware purchases.

Evaluating new systems and technologies – reviewing the latest technology changes that may have immediate, or future impact on Unitec IT operations.

Installation and administration of systems – managing the changes and upgrades to computer, data and network systems and maintaining optimal performance, and ensuring security of, those systems.

Managing Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems – these systems capture important information so that UNITEC can operate effectively as a business e.g. student administration, Financials and HR/Payroll.

Documentation – provide reference guides to facilitate the effective use of UNITEC’s information systems.

Repairs, maintenance and upgrades – ensuring that IT hardware and software is working as expected.

Project management – coordinating the installation of new systems and major network changes.

Information technology advice – assisting departments with hardware, software and systems options.

Policies and strategic planning – formulating IT policies (with other specialist groups), contributing directly to UNITEC’s Information Technology strategic plans.
