Who we are and what we do

The Communications team provides communications advice and support to all staff at Unitec, with a focus on supporting the Chief Executive, extended leadership team and project leaders to engage our internal and external stakeholders.

Our relationships with stakeholders are essential to Unitec’s success. Our stakeholders include staff and students, industry partners and the wider community.

We are here to support all staff so please do get in touch if you a question about staff communications, the Nest,  media enquiries or event management. Our key areas of responsibility are outlined below.

Media relations and enquiries

  • Media relations and publicity, corporate events, publications such as the annual report, social media, online communications
  • Any contact from the media should immediately be directed to our Senior Communications Partner Adrienne Kohler – 021 586 747 or Vivienne Merito – Director Marketing & Communications: 021 575 108 or email communications@unitec.ac.nz
  • Make sure you are familiar with our Media Policy

Internal staff communications

  • Advice and guidance on communications to staff, including coordinating information from the Chief Executive and executive to all staff, creating campaigns to support announcements re new processes and systems, activities, training and events
  • On campus alerts and incidents
  • Manage content of the Nest – news, staff notices and events, and advice on design and content for team pages
  • Creation of staff e-newsletters including Te Aka Kawerongo Weekly

Event management and support

  • Staff events* including Staff Excellence Awards and ARONUI ∙ FOCUS
  • Industry, commercial and stakeholder event support
  • Responsible for managing access to event space at Te Puna – B180
