Performance Partnering:  Reviews & 2022 ADEPs – new templates and extended deadlines

It’s that time of year again – as we head into December we start to reflect on our achievements for the year and look to realign our priorities for 2022, so we can come back ready for the New Year after a very well-deserved break over Christmas.  Our Performance Partnering process continues to be critically important in ensuring we are all working together to achieve our purpose at every level of the organisation – especially as we deal with the challenges of Covid while looking forward to the transition to Te Pūkenga over the next year.

Extended deadline for Reviews, ADEPs and Badge Submissions – 31 March 2022

We will have a bit of extra time this year to complete our Review of Achievements for 2021 and our ADEP Plan for 2022, as the deadline for completion has been extended out to 31 March 2022 (rather than end of February as per the usual cycle) – this is in recognition of the fact that many staff are dealing with high workloads right through to Christmas as a result of the extended lockdown and its implications.

The ELT have also approved an extension of the cut-off date for all staff for badge submissions to count towards 2021 requirements – 31 March 2022 will be the final date for submission of evidence.  If you haven’t had the chance to complete your badge requirements yet, make sure you have a plan locked in to do this prior to the end of March.

New templates – what you need to know

  • The ELT will shortly be releasing the Unitec Takitahi and Action Plan for 2022 – once released, these can be used as the basis for realigning team priorities.  Our leaders will be working with you over the coming months to realign your team action plans ready for 2022.
  • We have made some changes to the template for the Review of Achievements for 2021 – so make sure you download and use this one.  The changes have been made in response to consistent feedback received from staff and managers, and are intended to provide more guidance for Review conversations.  The key changes are:
    • New section for comment on key accountabilities (ie. the day-to-day requirements of your role) as well as your individual goals
    • Expansion of levels and criteria for the levels of achievement
  • The ADEP Plan template for 2022 has also been updated, as happens every year to reflect changes in priorities.  Key changes this year include:
    • Introduction of new standard goals for all staff and for managers relating to requirements for leave and illness/injury
    • Updated all-staff requirement relating to completion of an online module on the Tertiary and International Code of Practice

As we head into 2022, there will be regular Performance Partnering updates and reminders about what you need to do, so keep an eye out for these, and make sure you check out the Performance Partnering Portal if you need guidance – there are plenty of resources there to help you work through the process.   You can also email learnanddevelop@unitec.ac.nz or contact your HR Business Partner if you have any questions or need any support.
