Te Komiti Whakamana Hōtaka Hou | Academic Approvals Committee (AAC) ensures that all applications for new or amended programmes that require external approval (e.g. from NZQA) are of the required standard and are aligned with Unitec strategic and quality requirements.  This is very detailed quality work.  AAC makes recommendations to Academic Board about programme approvals.  It meets when required.

Te Komiti Whakamana Hōtaka Hou accounts to Te Komiti Mātauranga.

AAC established a Standing Committee (AACSC) in late 2020.  The activities of AACSC are reported regularly to AAC.

AAC mahi is linked to the Programme Development, Improvement & Management timelines (maintained by Te Korowai Kahurangi).

NOTE:  Applications are to be thoroughly reviewed and approved by the relevant Programme Academic Quality Committee (PAQC).  The date of PAQC approval of the application is to be noted on the front page of the Application Form below the PAQC Recommendation, and only then submitted to AAC@unitec.ac.nz.  Complete and approved application packages are typically due by COB three Thursdays prior to the AAC Meeting, unless specifically adjusted by the Chair.  This time is needed to allow adequate quality checking and evaluation by Te Korowai Kahurangi and Members of AAC.

Purpose

To ensure that any application for new or amended academic provision which is required to be approved externally meets relevant external requirements and is aligned to Unitec Strategy and meets Unitec’s internal requirements.
