New student dashboard providing latest insights on MIT and Unitec

Ensuring our teams have an up-to-date picture of key data is crucial to good decision-making and telling our story to prospective students and external partners.

‘At a glance’ is a dashboard featuring information on learner numbers, percentage of Māori and Pasifika, our largest feeder schools, our key demographics for international students are from and what level they are studying with us.

The data is available to all staff and will be updated monthly.

‘At a Glance’ provides demographic data across MIT and Unitec

Accessed through intranet sites MITNET and The Nest, the data can be broken down by MIT, Unitec or the now unified organisation – MIT and Unitec.

It will be invaluable for all kaimahi, especially those who engage with external stakeholders says Julie Prentice, Director Pathways and External Engagement, MIT and Unitec.

“Stakeholders always want to know more about the students we have here at MIT and Unitec. It’s great to be able to give them right up-to-date data on the numbers of students and EFTS, but ‘At a glance’ provides that and much more,” Julie says.

“It’s very detailed and helps to demonstrate the diversity that we celebrate here at MIT and Unitec.”

A view of the At a Glance portal

“We used to get this data every year from the annual plans, but a lot can change in a year. Our team updates this monthly so kaimahi can be confident that they have the very latest figures. We’re using technology to more effectively engage with our communities.”

“Apart from the benefits in engaging with our communities, it’ll be interesting for kaimahi to find out more about our students at a granular level. For example, at MIT and Unitec, we have 14,257 students enrolled with an average age of 28.”

A huge thanks to the MIT and Unitec Marketing Insights Team who have done a great job in creating such a user-friendly portal.
