Matariki Manaaki Whenua Working Bee – Mini Bioblitz on 23 June

Toitū te whenua, toitū te tangata

As the land endures, people flourish

Nau mai, haere mai. Join us during Matariki 2022 to help care for our taonga. Te Waiunuroa o Wairaka, a culturally and historically significant aquifer fed freshwater spring, situated at Mt Albert campus; and Rangimarie pā harakeke, a harakeke (phormium tenax/NZ flax) collection of significant varieties growing at Te Noho Kotahitanga marae. This will include general weeding, removal of invasive species and any litter.

We will also be working in with specialists from EAS to gather data and identify species along the length of the puna and awa (up to Farm Rd). This will help to form kaitiakitanga and regeneration strategies.

We will begin with karakia at 9am. You are welcome to come along for part, or all of the day.

Please bring garden tools for weeding, and gloves.

We will have a shared kai at 12.30 pm.
