2018 Programme Development stages and due dates
The Te Korowai Kahurangi team (formerly Academic Service Centre – go to our Nest story) has recently streamlined the Programme Development process and implemented time frames for each development stage.
Led by Ciarin Smith, Programme Development Co-ordinator, the goal was to make the process easier to follow and to provide clear guidelines on the key dates. Five common process milestones have been identified, with due dates set for each one, depending on when a new product is scheduled to be delivered.
Our Academic Board has recently approved the official programme development milestone due dates for all programmes, starting in 2019 Semester 1 and Semester 2. These are for:
To ensure programme developments start on time, any due date that is missed will trigger an escalation, where a decision will be made on whether to defer the programme to the subsequent delivery semester.
The Academic Board have also approved contingency due dates for each milestone, in the event that a deferral from one semester to the next will have a sufficiently negative impact on the institution. Programmes approved to follow these contingency dates will be treated on a case by case basis.
Standard due dates
Please note
Programmes with a contingency plan won’t be ready for the start of the semester, therefore a student transition plan must be in place for approval. Otherwise the development will be deferred by a full semester.
Looking ahead…
The due dates for programmes starting in 2020 Semester 1 and 2, will be announced in November 2018, for development throughout 2019.
