Have you tried Synergy Health?

Unitec is one of the subsidiaries helping Te Pūkenga pilot the Synergy Health employee health and wellbeing platform. This enables you to access talks, competitions and plenty of tips to foster positive wellbeing in your home and work environments.

If you’d like to join go to Login | Synergy Health Ltd, and click on the small green button to create a new account.

Then it is a two-step process:

  1. Fill out the necessary fields and click register
  2. Look to the bottom of the blue box. A new field appeared. This is where you enter the company code: education

Several people offered to share their experiences with Synergy:

  • Unitec’s Synergy advocate – Academic Programme Manager for Bridging Education, Sue Tulett
  • MIT’s Synergy advocate – Floristry senior lecturer Lisa Gilmour
  • Wintec colleague who didn’t wish to be named – WC

How are you finding Synergy Health?

Sue: I am really enjoying the high quality content and a range of challenges you can sign up for

WC: I particularly like the pop-ups with a short description of something, that gives you a link to further information if interested. It’s a good format that doesn’t overload with reams of information right off the bat

Lisa: The broad range of topics – some are unexpected and turn out to be relevant and interesting. It came at the right time and I have thoroughly enjoyed exploring what is inside.

What are some good things you have found of use so far?

WC: I am currently about 5 days into the 10 day sleep activity.

Lisa: The Wellbeing Score Card is a good place to start – and you are prompted on that route. This is a series of multiple choice questions that build to create your wellbeing profile

Sue: I’ve signed up for Te Reo and I receive daily emails, that take me through lessons bit by bit. And there is a financial wellbeing course which caught my eye.

Do you have any tips on how others can benefit from the tool?

Lisa: Do it on your mobile phone! I can confirm this is super easy to access and engage with on a mobile phone. If you feel you are too busy to take a look at this, you gotta take a look! It has been a bit of a game changer for me to be honest

Sue: Make this your micro-break. For us academics that are doing and giving all the time, it is nice to take a short break every few days, log onto the platform and have a read of articles, see what’s going on

WC:  Try it and see if it works for you like it worked for me.  Questions are straightforward and the daily updates only take a moment or two.
