More than 25 sporting organisations and industry bodies joined the first Sports Networking event in many years at Unitec last week, hosted by the Department of Sport, Recreation and Exercise.
Community Studies Senior lecturer Chantal Bakersmith said the event was designed to connect with people in the industry, and to promote our sports and recreation programmes within key community networks.
Chantal says it was a great way to bring people onto the campus who might not have visited Unitec before, and to promote the diversity of our programmes and the range of ākonga that we teach.
Organisations who attended the inaugural event included Sport New Zealand, Toi Tangata, Blues Rugby, Auckland Rugby Union, Auckland Rugby League, Sport Waitākere, Habitat Fitness, along with a number of secondary schools.
