Angelina Wright, Supported Learning lecturer, is one of returning Exercise Lab members.

“I used to go to Anytime fitness but found it too busy. So this year, I signed up for the Exercise Lab. It is perfect for an introvert like me since there are very few people around.  I don’t get embarrassed by my grants as much and don’t feel judged for awkward moves. And it is on campus, so I don’t have to wake up super early to fit in the workout before work.  I stared going to gym to rehabilitate after the surgery had to fix the meniscus tear. And now I keep going to the gym because I need extra training to condition my body for October softball PacPacific Masters Games in Gold Coast”

Michael McGurk

Michael McGurk, IT Network Engineer, is to both new to Unitec and the Exercise Lab.

“I used to have quite a sedentary role with really long hours. Since coming to Unitec, over the past five months I’ve been walking around a lot more, solving network issues around the place I made conscious effort to use stairs instead of lifts. And just from I’ve started to notice health benefits – reducing my waist and my legs not getting puffy. And then I got that July Wellbeing email and saw that we have an onsite gym. I filled out the form immediately! I am really look forward to exercising more, feeling stronger. My goal is to carry on losing the weight and toning up. I don’t want to get to the stage where I need to be rolled back into the water like a beached whale.”
