Edith Amituanai
We are very proud of Bachelor of Design (Photography) 2005 graduate, Edith Amituanai, who was made a Member of the NZ Order of Merit (MNZM) in the 2019 Queen’s Birthday Honours List, for her services to photography and the community.
Extended family and immediate community are the primary subjects for Edith’s work. She collaborates closely with Christchurch and Auckland relations, as well as the individuals she grew up with in West Auckland.
Edith is currently exhibiting at the Adam Art Gallery’s Te Pātaka Toi. The exhibition Edith Amituanai: Double Take is open through to 14 July 2019 and reviews her work from 2003 to the present, which draws attention to the experiences of Pacific people as well as other diasporic communities within New Zealand and further afield.
