The Auckland Theatre Company opens their 30th anniversary production of Shakespeare’s King Lear on Tuesday, 13 June at the ASB Waterfront Theatre and we’re excited that seven of our third year School of Creative Industries acting ākonga will be performing: Vikram Rajan, Alex Myers, Abby Ozanne, Sebastian Taylor, Ella Brislen, James Sexton and Jess Fajardo.
The star-studded Kiwi cast also features Unitec-Te Pūkenga acting graduates Fasitua Amosa (2004) and Jessie Lawrence (2013).
The play revolves around the ageing King Lear who having built his empire is poised to abdicate his crown. When he challenges his children to compete in a declaration of their love in return for his land, his favourite daughter refuses to play the game. Civilisation is thrust to the edge of chaos and Lear, unravelled and broken by his own vanity, will be forced to confront who he is for the very first time.
King Lear runs from 13 June to 9 July. Get your tickets from ATC https://lnkd.in/g7wyc-xp
