Car accident claims lives of two of our students

Last week we received tragic news of a serious car crash involving one current and two recently graduated Unitec Engineering students.

Two of the students, Bikramjit Singh and Mukul Jaglan, were killed in the crash, which occurred on Monday evening as they were travelling on SH1 near Tokoroa. The third student, Amit Sharma, remains in critical condition at Waikato Hospital.

All three young men had recently completed the NZ Diploma in Engineering – Civil, and Mukul had returned to study for his Bachelor (BETMG) from semester 2 this year.

Police contacted family members of all three shortly after the accident, however it was not clear all family members had been informed until recently, preventing the public sharing of information.

A fundraiser set up on Facebook to support the families and possible treatment costs for Amit quickly passed its $50,000 target during the weekend.
