Cybersecurity: Please complete the Cyber Aware module

Cyber attacks are on the rise around the world, making organisations and individuals increasingly vulnerable to threats. Cybersecurity knowledge and support is crucial in today’s world – and that’s where we come in. Please complete our new Cyber Aware @ Unitec module so you can keep yourself and Unitec safe from cyber attacks.

The Cyber Aware @ Unitec module, developed by our Learning & Development and IT teams, has been designed to provide a good understanding of the cyber risks we face, both at Unitec and in our personal lives, and offer clear steps on how to mitigate them.

It’s vital that everyone completes the module so you understand and implement good cybersecurity practice to protect your devices, data, personal information and accounts, whether you’re at Unitec or at home.

We encourage you to get this done as soon as possible so you can tick it off – but you have until mid April if you need it.

  • For the best user experience, log on via desktop or laptop. You’ll need audio for videos
  • Allow 45 minutes to complete it
  • All Unitec staff must complete the module.  Completion will be recorded on your PeopleSoft learning record

Topics covered in the module include:

  • Account and Device Security: Why and how to best secure your online accounts and protect your devices and data from remote and physical threats
  • Phishing: Identifying, avoiding and responding to Phishing attempts

  • Individual Actions you can take to contribute to a strong culture of cybersecurity at Unitec

At the end of the 45-minute module you’ll be asked to complete an action plan questionnaire which will generate a ‘to do’ list.  This will be emailed to you and will include links to further information to help you implement some of the key security measures covered in the module. You’ll also be asked to indicate that you’ve understood the content covered and are committed to good cyber security practices to keep Unitec and yourself safe.

The deadline to complete the module is 14 April 2022, so you have plenty of time!  Managers will be monitoring completion rates within their teams, and the Information Technology team will be on hand to assist with any issues.
