Over the holiday break, the Unitec NZ MFAT Manaaki Scholars all came together to celebrate Christmas with one another.
These scholars, who come from across the globe, were not able to return to their families due to COVID. Many of them have not seen their families in more than two years so it was lovely that they all joined together to celebrate with one another.
Unitec and MFAT provided a small koha towards their ‘orphan Christmas’.
Nelson Vaguna from Tuvalu, who is currently studying his Bachelor of Engineering, commented, ‘We were all gathered and we started from 5pm and finished around 3am in the morning…everyone enjoyed themselves with food and drinks, while sharing some good times together. We are so thankful for Unitec’s great supports during our time together. I believe 2022 is another year of learning some new things.’
