Rie the Cyber guy: Part 2 – are you ‘Password perfect’?

Passwords are important! They protect information, whether it is yours or the organisation’s you work for.

CERT NZ* is running a mini campaign to help promote the use of more secure passwords and assist in making them easier to create and remember, so we thought it would be good to share it with you.

I am a great believer in ‘length is greater than complexity’ when it comes to passwords, having spent many years testing password security; this mini campaign is promoting just that.

There is a new term introduced in this campaign: ‘Pass Phrase’. A ‘Pass Phrase’ is just a password made up of a number of words—that’s all. An example might be ‘RugbyEggGoalHooray’.
