Whanaungatanga—celebrating Unitec whānau and having fun!

The spirit was willing, even if the body complained a bit!

Last week, a touch rugby and soccer tournament was organised by lecturers Richard Boynton and Inger Andersen from the School of Trades and Services. Its aim was to bring the Unitec whānau together and build stronger relationships amongst the staff.

It was a fun day for all playing touch rugby and football, although it certainly identified the need for some of us to visit the gym on a more regular basis, says Inger.

“If you had walked past our staff room (B180-1120) you would have heard a strange creaking noise as the staff tried to get around the office afterwards”

Undaunted, they hope to organise another event and would love to see Unitec whānau join then in a challenge for the ‘Survival of the Fittest’!

The tournament was followed by a few waiata then a BBQ and tasty kai in the Hub, and some good-natured commentary on the play.

The best part of the games was sharing delicious kai afterwards!

Thanks to all who attended, it was a fun day with lots of laughs!

Thanks to Aroha Lewin for the great images.

Whanaungatanga – coming together

Soccer on a gorgeous summer’s day – join in for the next event!

Nothing like breaking out the guitar for waiata after all that running around!

Thanks everyone for participating and the great energy!
