What is Career and Employability at Unitec?

The Career and Employability team support students in managing their career and building employability skills so they can confidently navigate the world of work.

We do this through:

  • Partnering with Schools and support services through provision of tailored workshops
  • Curating employability resources
  • Working directly with students
  • Providing ongoing career support to Graduates after they have completed their studies

  • Support Academic Staff and Schools
    We collaborate with Schools through delivering career and employability workshops relevant to your students’ Professional Practice.
    Examples include:
     – ACE workshop for final year Nursing students applying for DHB roles
    – Targeted Graduate to Career (G2C) programme for final year students
    – Suite of employability workshops for Trades and Services (carpentry) students
    – Preparing Bachelor of Business students for IBL placements
  • Employability Resources
    We have a curated range of career and employability resources for self-directed use. Topics range from CVs and Interview preparation to how to plan career next steps and develop resilience. These are available on the Career and Employability Website and Moodle.
  • Individual Student Support
    Regular CV Drop-In throughout the year, or by appointment for more in depth discussion and coaching eg. interview preparation, career planning.
  • Workshops
    In addition to working with Schools, we offer Career and Employability Essentials workshops which are timed to coincide and help students prepare for Employer and Industry Connect events.
