Learner Outreach Project initiative brings student retention resource to Schools

The Learner Outreach Project team was recently established in response to the need for a better understanding of student retention issues and how we can make improvements in this area. The Project group identified that a tailored team of Student Support Advisors, partnered with each School, would provide a more direct support resource for our students and School staff.

By having specific Student Support Advisors aligned with each School, we’re able to provide a resource for Academic Programme Managers, Programme Co-ordinators and our Priority Group Success Champions. These Advisors are also directly connected to our domestic and International range of support services, bringing together a strong team of resource to increase and improve student retention in each School.

Along with input from teaching staff, our Advisors will use data on attendance, early assessment marks and other indicators to proactively identify students who may need support, with the aim of ensuring they are able to complete their study and meet their career goals. They will also have a responsibility for tracking and monitoring progress of our Priority Groups, in particular Māori and Pacific.

Thank you to all our Student Support Advisors who agreed to step-up and take on these important roles.
