Cris de Groot provides TV3’s ‘The Project’ with expert analysis on child car seats

Last week Lecturer Cris de Groot featured on TV3’s The Project, in a story on child car seats. The segment explores how safe they are, if parents are being ‘ripped off’ by the cost of a car seat – if ‘dearer’ means safer and why the expiry date is so important.

The Project interviews the Head of Testing at Consumer New Zealand and brings in Cris for some expert analysis, who they describe as “an engineer, product designer and professional ‘puller-aparter’…”!

Cris assesses the three seats he has been asked to review, talks about how they are each built and their design features, then takes them into Mataaho to create a cross-section so we can get a better idea of what they are made of and what is keeping your child safe.

To watch the segment go to TV3 on Demand – The Project on Wednesday 24 July – the story starts at 12:40.

Note: To view you will need to sign in to TV3 on Demand (or register as a new user). The episode is only available online until 7 August 2019.

Hi, you could request the programme to be added to ETV so you retain access. I’ve done this before with TV items that I want to use for teaching purposes, so happy to help.

Thank you Rhiannon for your message and yes, your help with this would be appreciated! We weren’t aware that this is an option so would certainly like to know how to access this facility on an on-going basis. I will email you.
