Marketing update – our Semester 2 campaign is underway

Our Semester 2 campaign is now out in the community. We have adopted a fresh approach which focuses on our diverse whānau of students and programmes, letting people know the breadth of what Unitec has to offer – how we can help you get where you’re going.

This is in response to our latest market research which tells us that potential students are still not aware of the diversity of programmes we offer or that we go to degree level. The research also shows that the Unitec brand is not the most important consideration for people shopping for tertiary education – the destination is the key. There is more… “I want to become a nurse/architect/carpenter, where can I go to achieve that?”, and less of “I’ve decided to go to Unitec, now let’s see what I should study while I’m there.”

We are also placing an emphasis on connecting with our priority groups, Māori, Pacific, International and under 25.

The U25 group is a real focus for us as it’s the largest market segment which we were previously strong in but has slipped in recent years, with the loss of U25s accounting for 74% of the decline in EFTs since 2014.

The campaign will run across bus backs, adshels, radio, Māori TV and various online platforms (Google Network, Social Media etc) and includes static, semi-static and video media.

We also recently created an international marketing video – ‘The International Experience at Unitec’ which features our international students on campus talking about their experiences at Unitec and what they’ve discovered.

Open Day 2019

Open Day is an important ‘recruitment’ event and an opportunity for prospective students to get inspired about their future, to discover their study options and career opportunities. We’ll have representation from all Schools on hand to answer questions, lecturers as well as industry experts, and student support teams available to answer any questions about life at Unitec.

This year’s event, on Saturday 7 September 2019 at both Mt Albert and Waitākere campuses, will be supported with a marketing campaign which includes digital advertising, secondary school promotions and a range of signage.

Please talk to family, friends and everyone in your community, about this special event and the opportunities it provides for secondary school students or anyone who is thinking about making a career change or wants to upskill. They can find out more here and register to come along.

2020 Unitec Prospectus

Every year our Marketing team creates a prospectus which outlines every programme available at Unitec in the upcoming year. It is a key ‘sales’ tool and resource for prospective students and school career advisors.

The Unitec Prospectus 2020 is out in the community now – you can view a copy online.

As this is such a key resource it’s important that it is kept up-to-date, particularly as the Marketing team uses this as a reference and guide for all other marketing materials including brochures, flyers and digital advertising. So if you are aware of any programme changes that impact any of the content, please let Marketing know via marketing@unitec.ac.nz.

If you have any questions about the S2 campaign, you can post below or send a message to marketing@unitec.ac.nz.
