Special award presented to Yavann at Long Black

Mary making the formal award presentation to Yavann

Yavann, the owner/operator of the two Long Black cafés on Mt Albert campus for over a decade, was recently presented with a special award to recognise his long-term partnership and commitment to Unitec – our staff, students and visitors, as well as his high standard of customer service.

Presented by Mary Johnston, she said Yavann truly demonstrates living the principles of Te Noho Kotahitanga and does it with genuine warmth and laughter, always taking a ‘customer-first focus’, which is also reflected by the team that helps run his business.

Next time you’re in Long Black make sure you congratulate Yavann for his award (it’s on the wall behind the counter!) – there’s nothing better than being reminded that you’re a valued team member!

    Kia Ora Yavann & Dari

Congratulations on your award. You are such wonderful, friendly people. You are caring towards others and especially supportive of your staff. You know people by name and more times than not their preferred beverage. Thank you and your staff for also embracing Te Reo Maori by saying Kia Ora or Morena. I consider you as being part of our Unitec Whanau and thank you so much for all that you do.
