Polyfest’s Diversity stage a big win for Unitec

The world’s largest Māori and Pacific Island festival, the ASB Polyfest, ran last week at the Manukau Sports Bowl.

Our presence at Polyfest and sponsorship of the cultural Diversity stage and a special chill-out zone, kicked-off one of our key focuses for 2019, community engagement.

Polyfest provided us with a huge range of opportunities to engage with our key priority groups and communities. The chill-out zone provided us with a space to host potential students and their families, providing guidance on the opportunities and resources available at Unitec.

A highlight for our staff who were there to support our involvement, was a visit by our Prime Minster – Rt Hon Jacinda Ardern and the Minister for Pacific Peoples – Hon Aupito William Sio.

Check out the photos of our participation in Polyfest on Andrea Thumath’s post on Yammer.

In her post Andrea says “We couldn’t be prouder to have been the Diversity Stage Sponsors, especially given the events of the past 48 hours. Our love and thoughts go out to anyone impacted by the recent events.”

Following the Christchurch terror attack on Friday, out of respect for the victims and concern for safety, the final day of Polyfest was cancelled.

Congratulations to everyone involved in making this event, and our return to Polyfest, a success!
