Unitec is back at Polyfest – get involved!

We’re pleased to announce our return to Polyfest, a showcase of New Zealand’s diverse cultures and a celebration of youth performance. Our presence at Polyfest and sponsorship of the cultural Diversity Stage will kick-off one of our key focuses for 2019, community engagement.

This four-day event (13-16 March 2019) is the largest Polynesian festival in the world and features traditional music, dance, costume as well as a speech competition. The Unitec Diversity Stage includes a range of traditional performances by students from Fijian, Tokelau, Chinese, Korean and                                                                                         Indian communities.

Polyfest provides us with a huge range of opportunities to engage with our key priority groups and communities – Pacific, Māori, ‘international’ and under 25’s, as well as secondary school leadership. We’ll have a space adjacent to the stage that we’ll utilise to host potential students and their families, providing guidance on the opportunities and resources at Unitec to build their skills for their future career path.

Our involvement is being led by our Unitec Pathways College team in partnership with our Pacific Centre, Communications and Marketing teams.

Talent and extra resource needed – can you help?

The UPC team needs extra resource at the event to help with hosting on the Unitec stand and engaging with our communities, so if you have capacity in your day (half or full) to support please email upc@unitec.ac.nz by Monday 4 February 2019.

Student talent – We would like to utilise our Diversity Stage to show off our Unitec talent, so if you can recommend students who you think would like the opportunity to perform on stage, please email upc@unitec.ac.nz by Monday 4 February 2019.
