Dog Squad: canine training showcase (includes pics of pups)

The Dog Squad starting their performance.

Last week certainly delivered a ‘better work story’ for a group of lucky spectators, when our Canine Behaviour and Training students performed with their awesome dogs on the grass area outside B115 on Thursday. The ‘Dog Squad’ started off with a parade, where Douglas the Golden Retriever led the pack, pulling a wagon with a smaller dog on board.

The students and their dogs then showcased the different commands they have mastered throughout the semester, as well as individual tricks unique to each dog. One pup, Marley, even rang a bell when it was time for lunch! After the show, the students and their dogs hung around, allowing the adoring audience to pat the dogs while chatting with the students about training and canine behaviours.

Russel found the prickles too painful to walk on, so wore shoes to protect his feet. More comfortable and super cute.

Well-deserved playtime following the performance.
