ATOM changes announced

The Academic Targeted Operating Model project (ATOM) reached a milestone this week with the presentation of confirmed changes to academic and support staff.

The aim of ATOM is to clarify ownership of academic support functions, roles and responsibilities, and address process gaps to reduce some of the administrative load on our academic staff. The project was created in 2017 with work beginning in earnest from March this year.

Following the presentation of proposed changes to staff at the beginning of August, the team extended the consultation period to ensure everyone could have their say. There were 63 submissions made, including many constructive ideas and thoughtful questions.

After reviewing all consultation, the team has now created a Confirmed Function Outcome document, providing an overview of the changes, and including a Q&A addressing common questions from the submissions.

The changes are intended to provide greater visibility of who “owns” specific processes and functions, and to reduce the number of contact points required to source information or support services.

Implementation of ATOM will begin next week and staff will be advised of the new support contact points.
